Visual Guide - Profile Editor

Profile Editor

A) Discard and Exit

Clicking the, will exit the Profile Editor without saving changes or new Pointers.

B) Pointer Reference Information

This area contains the configuration of the Pointer for creation and editing.

  • Name is the display name of the Pointer in EmailPointer.
  • Type is the type of Pointer, e.g. SharePoint, Shared Drive, etc.
  • Server is the URL that links to the Pointer Reference.
  • Location is the location on the Server to which the Pointer is referencing.

C) Advanced Tab

The Advanced Tab contains two controls, Show Files and Show Folders, and the Property Management tool.

Show Files controls whether the Files contained in the Pointer Reference are displayed. If not selected, the Pointer will only display Folders contained in the Pointer Reference or just the main Reference location itself if there are no Folders. This will display Folders within Folders, but no Files contained therein.

Show Folders controls whether the Folders contained in the Pointer Reference are displayed. If not selected, the Pointer will only display Files contained in the Pointer Reference or just the main Reference location itself if there are no Files. This will display all Files within the Pointer reference, with no distinguishable difference between Files in differing Folders.

D) Suggestions Tab

The Suggestions Tab displays possible Pointer References that are Currently Open, Recently opened, and System Folders found on the computer EmailPointer is installed on (this includes any folders/drives visible in Windows Explorer). If the reference to be linked to the Pointer is not visible try exiting the Profile Editor and refreshing () EmailPointer, or restarting Outlook.

E) Save and Exit

Clicking the , will save the Pointer Profile and exit the Profile Editor.

Warning: This will save partially complete Pointer Profiles which will not work properly. If a Profile does not work as expected open it in the Profile Editor to ensure it is fully complete with the correct information.
