SharePoint Pointer Creation Tutorial

To connect a Pointer Profile with a SharePoint site you will need to create a new profile. (If you have an issue at any stage of this process, please refer to the troubleshooting section at the bottom of the page)

1. Open the SharePoint Site in your Internet Browser.

2. Open the Profile Editor in EmailPointer using the () from the settings bar at the bottom right of the Main EmailPointer window.

3. The SharePoint site will be visible under the Currently Open label in the Location Tab.

4. Click on the name of the SharePoint Site (“SharePoint Example” in the above image), this will auto-fill the textboxes at the top of the window.

5. Subfolders beneath the SharePoint Site currently open can be accessed for selection via the grey arrow () at the left of the site name in the Suggestions Tab. Clicking this will open the file tree, displaying the contents.

The desired Subfolder can then be selected to be used as the Pointer.

6. The Name of the Pointer Profile can be edited after the Location is selected, the default name will be the original name of the Location in the Source (the default seen above, Example Subfolder”, the example changed name is “Your Custom Name Here” in the below image).

7. To Save the Pointer Profile, click the blue checkmark () at the bottom right of the window. To discard, click the blue x () at the top right of the window.

8. After saving the Pointer Profile, EmailPointer will return to the Main Screen with the new Pointer added to the list.

Troubleshooting

If the SharePoint site is not in the Currently Open section, and/or doesn’t appear at all in the Suggestions Tab, exit out of the Profile Editor using the blue X button () at the top right of the Profile Editor Screen. After the Main Screen has re-loaded, go to your browser and ensure that the Tab or Window that has the SharePoint Site loaded is selected or focused. Return to Outlook/EmailPointer and click the Refresh Button () at the bottom right of the Main Screen to refresh the Location Discovery for the Profile Editor, then re-open the profile editor () and check if the SharePoint Site appears within the Currently Open area of the Suggestions Tab.

If a SharePoint Site Pointer is not opening, either in the Main Screen or in the Profile Editor, check to ensure there are no Microsoft Login Popups open. To access SharePoint Sites the first time through EmailPointer, Microsoft will need to verify access using the Username and Password connected to that SharePoint Site. Changing your computer, your computers physical location, or IP Address, can cause Microsoft to require re-authorizing your computer.
